What’s in a marketing plan?

Those of you that have read our blogs before know that we strongly advocate the development of a marketing strategy and we’ve outlined marketing distress signals that you may be experiencing from not having a marketing plan.

But what should be included in a marketing plan?

As your marketing plan is the blueprint as to how your marketing strategy should be implemented, in our opinion it should include the vital parts of your strategy including:

  • Your marketing objectives.
  • A summary of your target audiences.
  • An outline of your competitors.
  • What your proposition and supporting messages are.
  • The outcomes from your SWOT analysis.
  • A list of your most appropriate marketing channels.
  • A budget.

The document should also include a comprehensive timescale marketing plan including identifying responsibilities.
